The Benediction

As we stride ever onward, now into a summer that promises to be one like we have never experienced before, we continue to take a moment each day with music. Throughout these next few months, look for some more offbeat choices, many more of your own community selections and comments, and as ever, a little injection of faith, hope, and love into your day.

Got a song you just love? Email musicwppc@gmail.com to tell Jeff about it!

Thank you for affording me a couple days of "brain break" this week. With a few extra things on my plate, I took this one off to make a little more room. I appreciate your patience.

Today, a song to accompany us as we think of our dear sister Flo Bliss, who passed away early this morning. We remember her fondly and consider what it means to us here in world when someone we love love leaves it. May this song help us to celebrate life, and may Flo's memory be for blessing.

May you always have a hand to hold

Out there in the darkness

When you're feeling cold

When everything is hurting

And nothing's really working

May you find the courage to still be bold

May the sweetest things be all that you can taste

And when the hardest parts are laying you to waste

When you're sitting with the feeling

That you don't want to be living

May the angels bring their grace

May the angels bring their grace

May you keep the dreams you had when you were young

And when your feet are getting tired

I hope that someone that you love, looks you in the eye

And says, "Darling, you'll be fine

Darling, you're all mine

Darling, I'll be there with you on the other side

Darling, you'll be fine

Darling, you're all mine

Darling, I'll be there with you

I'll be there with you

May the sweetest things be all that you can taste

And when the hardest parts are laying you to waste

When you're sitting with the feeling

That you don't want to be living

May the angels bring their grace

Pray...

God of Life and Death, Thank you for sitting with us in sorrow and celebration.

We also lift up the following prayers shared during last Sunday's worship service:

  • For peace moving Jan's mother into her new home

  • For all who are being affected by wildfires

  • For the joyous and safe arrival of Zoe Catherine, newest member of the extended Young clan!

Even in our separation, God, help us to feel the deep delight of your love for all. Amen.
