Fred:
Saint for Children of All Ages

Artist: Betty Wight

Mr. Fred McFeely Rogers
Born: March 20, 1928
Died: February 27, 2003
Occupation: Television personality and Minister

Mr. Rogers was an ordained Presbyterian minister, although he never mentioned it on television since he wanted to be inclusive. He did 895 episodes of “Mr. Rogers’ Neighborhood.” He advocated for various causes and especially for children’s television. The US Supreme Court would quote him, and he appeared in front of the U.S. Senate Committee for Children’s Television.

I chose to do Mr. Rogers as an icon because of his lifetime devotion to helping children of all ages to grow.

WPPC is located on the unceded ancestral lands of the Duwamish people.

We acknowledge that they are still here, continuing to honor and bring light to their heritage,

and we benefit every day from the theft of their land.
