Dead End

They walked miles to escape violence in their own country only to find a wall at the USA border. If they do get around the wall and if they must turn around and go back, they face crucifixion. Children are separated from their parents. Both children and parents are treated unjustly.

I chose this subject because of the message the wall conveys to the world and the actual humanitarian crises happening there. The treatment of children has really heightened my awareness.

In my piece, the people are on a road that they believe leads away from persecution and toward a new start in life. Along the way their hope was cut short by a boarder they never imagined. A boarder that brings more suffering.

We acknowledge that they are still here, continuing to honor and bring light to their heritage,

and we benefit every day from the theft of their land.
