It's My Lazy Day

As we stride ever onward, now into a summer that promises to be one like we have never experienced before, we continue to take a moment each day with music. Throughout these next few months, look for some more offbeat choices, many more of your own community selections and comments, and as ever, a little injection of faith, hope, and love into your day.

Got a song you just love? Email musicwppc@gmail.com to tell Jeff about it!

Well, it’s the Monday after a Sunday holiday, which means many people have the day off today. We are in such a habit as a society of relentlessly filling every free minute with things to do. Perhaps when we get a chance, we should try a real, honest-to-goodness lazy day! Even if that’s not today for you, maybe put one on the calendar! (The irony, I know…) Here with some anti-motivation are June and the Carter family in a delightful appearance on the Grand Ol’ Opry television program, complete with a short introductory sketch. I’d forgotten how funny June was! Enjoy the cuteness - and the downright musical skill of these women! What might you do with your lazy day? Well I might have gone fishin' I got to thinkin' it over The road to the river Is a mighty long way Well, it must be the season No rhyme or no reason I'm takin' it easy It's my lazy day I ain’t asking no questions I ain’t giving advices I ain’t doing no dating I ain’t wanting to play I’m just gonna look stupid I don’t wanna meet Cupid I’m taking it easy It’s my lazy day

Pray...

God of Rest, Thank you for days off and for opportunities to indulge in relaxation, even if for just a few minutes.

We also lift up the following prayers shared during last Sunday's worship service:

  • May the July 4th celebrations be safe and respectful.

  • For the cooler weather this week than last week.

Even in our separation, God, help us to feel the deep delight of your love for all. Amen.
