Homelessness in the Midst of Abundance

Artist: Judy Andrews

Why, in the richest country in the world, are so many without a place to live?

I choose homelessness as a modern Crucifixion. It's all around us in plain sight and yet often criminalized in the richest country in the world. The telephone poles (the crosses) represent the privileges and services afforded the affluent while the homeless are denied basic rights and necessities. Jesus calls us to serve the poor and dispossessed.

WPPC is located on the unceded ancestral lands of the Duwamish people.

We acknowledge that they are still here, continuing to honor and bring light to their heritage,

and we benefit every day from the theft of their land.
